Bengaluru: A truck carrying tomatoes worth Rs 21 lakh has gone missing in a way between Karnataka’s Kolar to Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Neither the truck nor the driver can be reached, the police informed.
The truck owner has been unable to reach out to the driver. A complaint for the same has been registered in Kolar Nagar police station.
As per Karnataka police, the truck driver and his partner have stolen the truck and the tomatoes. The cops have launched a probe into the matter and trying to track down the missing truck.
The surging prices of tomatoes in the country have made them a hot commodity for thieves. In the last 10 days, the price of tomatoes has gone up by over Rs 150 per kg in some parts of the nation. The soaring price has made the vegetable valuable.
Earlier, an alike case was reported from Karnataka’s Hassan district, where thieves had stolen tomatoes worth Rs 2.7 lakh.
