International rapper Travis Scott’s much-awaited concert in Mumbai turned into a nightmare for many fans after a series of robberies were reported at the venue. The show, held at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, saw thousands of people gather for the high-energy performance, but amid the excitement, a coordinated gang of thieves struck inside the packed crowd.
Dozens of phones and gold chains missing
According to police, around 24 mobile phones and 12 gold chains were stolen during the concert, with the total value estimated at Rs 18 lakh. Many attendees realised their belongings were missing only after the concert ended. Some reported that the moment the crowd surged near the stage, they felt someone tug at their chains or unzip their bags.
Officers said the dense crowd, loud music and dim lighting provided the perfect cover for experienced snatchers. Most thefts happened right in front of the main stage, where people were pushing to get closer to the performance.
Case registered; police begins investigation
Following the incident, multiple concert-goers approached the nearby Tardeo police station to file complaints regarding their stolen belongings. A case has been registered against an unknown accused under Sections 303(2) and 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Authorities are now scanning CCTV footage from entry points, exit gates and areas around the stage to identify the culprits. Concertgoers from several cities, including Mumbai, Surat, Bengaluru and parts of Kerala, reported missing items.
Victims claimed the stolen chains weighed between 10 and 24 grams, with some pieces carrying expensive pendants. Police have seized statements, collected phone details, and initiated a wider probe to trace the network involved.
Earlier in November, Travis Scott performed in Delhi as part of his CIRCUS MAXIMUS World Tour, produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live.
