Traveling From Bengaluru Airport? Here’s Why Your Trip Might Cost More

Traveling from Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport is set to become more expensive due to recent changes in toll charges and other fees.

Under the new structure, light motor vehicles, which include cars, jeeps, and vans, will pay ₹120 one way, and ₹180 return, an increase from ₹115 and ₹170. Light commercial vehicles, goods carriers, and minibuses will pay ₹185 one way, and ₹275 return, compared to ₹175 and ₹265 previously. Larger vehicles, including buses and trucks, will now pay ₹370 one way, and ₹550 return, an increase from ₹355 and ₹535 previously.

Heavy construction machinery and three to six-axle vehicles will be charged ₹560 for a one-way trip and ₹840 for a round trip, while vehicles with more than seven axles will now be charged ₹725 for a one-way trip and ₹1,090 for a round trip.

The Bangalore airport toll will see increased demand for rescission since the fee plaza is located immediately before the entrance to the access road to the airport—many travelers in the past have asserted that travelers to the airport should not be required to pay a toll given that they are traveling only to the airport along the highway. The toll could be an additional burden for cab drivers who may decide not to pick passengers up from the airport if the cost is seen as too high, suggesting transportation difficulties and long experiences waiting on passengers for travel to the airport.

Meanwhile, travelers on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway will also face higher toll rates starting tomorrow. The increase is yet another challenge for daily commuters. The increase in tolls for routes of significance for major public and private transport should contribute to the rising cost of travel in Karnataka.
