Last night, a horrific road accident in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, claimed the lives of 13 wedding guests when a tractor trolley overturned. The crash left more than 30 people injured, with four of them referred to Bhopal for advanced medical care. The victims included four children and five women. The wedding guests, who had traveled from Motipura village in Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, to Kamalpur village in Rajgarh district, encountered the accident near Piplodi on their way.
In an instant, the joy of the wedding turned to mourning. Passersby conducted a rescue operation, pulling the injured from beneath the tractor trolley and transporting them to the district hospital in Rajgarh with the help of an ambulance. Upon receiving news of the accident, SP Aditya Mishra arrived at the scene with his team. The police’s preliminary investigation has revealed the cause of the accident. The injured also shared their eyewitness accounts of how and why the accident occurred.
Who reported the Rajgarh Accident?
Mamta, one of the injured women, recounted that the accident occurred around 9 PM. Approximately 60 people were in the tractor trolley. The driver, who was drunk, had the music playing very loudly and was dancing to it in an inebriated state when he suddenly lost his balance. Despite the baraatis urging him to drive carefully, he remained in a jolly mood and failed to maintain control.
The tractor trolley veered off the road and overturned, ending up with all four wheels facing upwards. People became trapped underneath, and despite efforts to free them, a JCB had to be called to right the trolley. Some individuals sustained injuries to their thighs and arms, while most suffered head injuries. The accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence.
According to media reports, upon receiving news of the accident, State Minister Narayan Singh and Collector Harsh Dixit promptly arrived at the hospital to meet the injured. State Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his grief over the accident and directed that all possible facilities be provided to the injured. Both the Madhya Pradesh Police and the Rajasthan Police announced their plans to investigate the accident. Additionally, President Draupadi Murmu expressed her condolences to the victims in a tweet as soon as she learned about the accident.
