In a heart-wrenching incident, three children from Jagatsinghpur village in Samastipur, Bihar met with an accident due to drowning in the Burhi Gandak River. Initially, five children were drowned, but the people of the village managed to save two children. The bodies of three children were recovered by the SDRF.
According to reports, the victims, aged between 10 to 12 years old, were residents of Jagatsinghpur, Bihar. They had gone to the Burhi Gandak River to beat the scorching heat, unaware of the danger. Eyewitnesses recounted that the children were enjoying their time in the water when suddenly they found themselves in distress, struggling to stay afloat.
Resident Santosh said, “There were three children two were 12 years old and one of 10 years old.” “At approximately 3 am, I received information that a group of eight to nine individuals had gone for a bath. Tragically, five children from the group drowned in the river. Local residents managed to rescue two of them, while the remaining two succumbed to drowning. Upon our arrival, we coordinated with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local divers to retrieve the bodies. The recovered bodies have been transported to Samastipur for postmortem examination,” stated Sanjay Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Karpuri Village police station.

The incident has left the community in shock and mourning. Parents and guardians of the deceased are grappling with unimaginable grief, while the entire locality is reeling from the loss of promising young lives. Authorities have expressed condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of all possible assistance.
