In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through the local community, two members of the Village Defense Guards (VDG) were kidnapped and brutally killed by terrorists in the forested region of Kishtwar District in Jammu and Kashmir. The victims, Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, were reportedly shepherds who had ventured to Munzla Dhar (Adhwari) to graze their cattle when they failed to return home on the evening of the incident.

Authorities have confirmed that while the bodies of the two men have been recovered, a massive search operation is currently underway in the area as security forces work to locate any remaining threats. The gruesome nature of this crime has drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who expressed their sorrow over the loss.

“This barbaric act of violence is a significant impediment to achieving lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Dr. Abdullah. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar during this incredibly difficult time.”

In a related development, an encounter between terrorists and a joint team of security forces has erupted in Sagipora, Sopore, in North Kashmir. Reports indicate that two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. A top police officer revealed that a cordon and search operation was initiated based on specific intelligence, leading to the current anti-terrorist operation.
