Haryana: A cashier and a bank manager lost their lives after their SUV was submerged in water in an underpass in Faridabad, Haryana. Delhi NCR has been experiencing severe rainfall and waterlogging for the past 3 days.
According to the police Punyashreya Sharma who was the bank manager at HDFC Bank, Sector 31, Gurugram, and Viraj Dwivedi, a cashier were returning home in Mahindra XUV 700 on Friday evening. They reached the old Faridabad underpass and saw it was flooded there but they were unable to know how deep it was.
After the SUV started getting submerged the two men tried to escape from there but failed. The police team reached there as soon as they received the information, police pulled Sharma’s body out of the vehicle on the same day, whereas Dwivedi’s body was found on Saturday at 4:00 am after long hours of search.
Heavy rain continued in Delhi NCR for the second consecutive day on Friday. An orange alert was issued by the IMD for both Thursday and Friday.
Heavy traffic jams and waterlogging were reported in many parts of Delhi NCR on Friday. On Saturday, Delhi NCR experienced light rainfall. As reported by IMD, Delhi has experienced 1000 mm rainfall this month which is the highest since 2021.
