A farmer named Kishan Babu Singh Yadav, a resident of Chakeri Thana in Kanpur, claimed his life as a result of distress over the grabbing of his agricultural land. Kishan died by suicide on September 9 by jumping in front of a speeding train.
Police authorities have apprehended six people on charges of prompting a person to commit suicide. Furthermore, cheating on a complaint filed by the late farmer’s wife on Sunday.
Before taking the drastic step, the farmer articulated a suicide note addressing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, accusing a BJP leader and two other people of capturing his land. According to the note, Priya Ranjan Diwakar grabbed his 6.5 bigha land by granting him a spurious cheque of Rs 6.29 crore.
The note further highlights the negligence of the police authorities in the region, which led him to claim his own life. He penned, “When I made a complaint to the police, they turned a deaf ear. The lack of injustice has hurt me, and as a result, I am taking my own life. Kindly take action to grant my children justice.” Babu also brought to CM Yogi’s attention that his party members do not follow his own laws in his state.
Following the tragedy, the deceased’s wife filed a complaint at Chakeri police station. The family is now demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to Kishan Babu Singh Yadav’s suicide and justice for their loss.
A case against Priya Ranjhan Diwakar and the other suspects has been registered, said Ashok Duber, Chakeri police station in-charge.
