Seven people, including a newly married couple, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor on a foggy Saturday morning, according to officials.
The accident occurred on National Highway 74 as the couple was returning to the groom’s home in Dhampur after their wedding in Jharkhand. Their car collided with an auto, resulting in the deaths of five additional passengers in the auto, all residents of Dhampur.

SP Bijnor, Abhishek, stated, “We received information about a collision between a car and an auto in the Dhampur area early morning. There were seven persons in the auto, all residents of Thana Dhampur.”
CM Yogi Adityanath Condoles Loss
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He instructed district officials to ensure immediate medical attention for the injured and to expedite relief efforts.

Dense Fog Heightens Accident Risks
A sudden dip in temperatures has caused dense fog to envelop many parts of Uttar Pradesh, including the capital Lucknow. Reduced visibility has significantly increased the risk of road accidents in the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dense fog warning for northern plains and Himalayan foothills from November 17 to 19, covering areas like Punjab, Haryana, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and western Rajasthan. Visibility is expected to remain low until November 18.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers posed by foggy conditions and the urgent need for caution while driving in such weather.
