Chief Medical Officer Rajkumar Aggarwal confirmed the deaths of 100 people, including three children, in a stampede at a religious gathering in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

Etah SSP Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that a stampede occurred during a religious event in a village of Hathras district. Etah Hospital has received 100 dead bodies so far, including 23 women, 3 children, and 1 man. The injured have not yet arrived at the hospital. Further investigation and identification of the bodies are ongoing.

SHO Ashish Kumar of Sikandara Rao police station indicated that initial inputs suggested the stampede occurred due to overcrowding.

A stampede broke out in Hathras following the conclusion of a religious event for Lord Shiva, resulting in the deaths of 27 people, including women and children. The satsang was organized by the Manav Mangal Milan Sadbhavna Samagam Committee. There is concern that the death toll may be higher.

An eyewitness recounted the horrific incident, stating, ‘We attended the Satsang with a large crowd. After the satsang ended, we began to leave through a narrow exit towards the field. Suddenly, a commotion broke out, and we were unsure how to react. Many people lost their lives.’

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh instructed officials to promptly reach the site and accelerate relief efforts.

Chief Minister Adityanath dispatched the Director General of Police, along with two senior ministers and the Chief Secretary, to the spot.

The Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive proper treatment at the hospital and has expressed wishes for their speedy recovery.
