New Delhi: Congress chief of Maharashtra unit Balasaheb Thorat Tuesday stated that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – consisting of Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP and Congress – will remain intact and contest 2024 elections together against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“We (NCP, Congress and Uddhav Thackeray faction) will fight together against BJP. Congress will get a good number of seats in 2024 Lok Sabha. MVA is together and the people of the state are with us,” said the Congress leader.

On being asked about the strategy to save the Opposition’s coalition, MVA, Congress state chief stressed that the “Agadhi will be together.”

As of now, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has the maximum seats in the Assembly, giving it the right to chose the Leader of Oppositon (LoP). With 54 MLAs, NCP had appointed Ajit Pawar.

However, after Ajit Pwar carried out the revolt within the party, NCP chief Sharad Pawar declared Jitendra Awhad as the new LoP.

Meanwhile, the Congress started to make demands that the LoP should be of their choice since they have the highest strength in the Assembly. The request was also affirmed by Sharad Pawar who said that “the Congress’ demand is appropriate.”

“According to my information, Congress currently has the biggest strength now in the state assembly and if that party has claimed leader of opposition’s post, then their demand is appropriate,” Pawar said.
