New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda on Sunday asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) stands for ‘Terror, Mafia, Corruption.’ He made the remarks in a public rally held at Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal.
Aiming at the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the BJP president said there is a “Jungle Raj” in West Bengal.
He said, “There will be change in Bengal. ‘Jungleraj’ of CM Mamata Banerjee will going to end. There is no governance here.”
He also accused the TMC to loot ration items. “Many development projects were initiated by Centre in Bengal. We distributed rice and wheat to people but TMC workers stole ration items.”
Nadda’s statement comes ahead of upcoming Panchayat elections in the state. The BJP president will hold another rally today in Purba Medinipur district, as per media reports.
The BJP chief is on 2-day visit in the state where he is organising meetings to review preparedness before the polls takes place.
TMC Cornered
Meanwhile, the TMC is also already under fire due to the irregularities in the key welfare schemes, such as the PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) and MGNREGA jobs.
The BJP has cornered CM Mamata Banerjee over the issue to leave no stone unturned in order to win the panchayat elections. BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar reached out to Governor C V Anand Bose to complain about the alleged irregulairities.
He said that the state government “has been found wanting in the implementation of the MGNREGS, PMAY (G) and PMGSY and there are glaring irregularities and blatant corruption all around”.
However, the TMC-ruled state government has written to the central governemnt demanding to release funds under PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) immediately. It also mentioned that the state would fail to meet its March 31 deadline for building 11 lakh houses, if there is any further delay.
