The party leaders said that the “assault” took place when the Opposition MPs were protesting against the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

TMC MP Mitali Bagh said, “While we were protesting against the bill, Union Ministers Ravneet Singh Bittu and Kiren Rijiju attacked me, they pushed me…This is condemnable.”

TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee said, “The bill is unconstitutional. I did not do it (tore the copies of the bill), but whoever did it, I salute him. This bill is totally undemocratic. How can they amend Article 75, which is the basic structure of the Constitution?… The cases registered by ED, CBI are fake…We are against this bill…Union Ministers Ravneet Singh Bittu and Kiren Rijiju pushed two of our women MPs in the well…The BJP is committing atrocities against women.”

On the other hand, BJP slammed Opposition MPs when Copies of the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025 torn and thrown towards HM Amit Shah in Lok Sabha.

BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi said, “TMC people were creating a ruckus in Parliament. Along with them, Congress and other opposition party members were sitting in their seats, causing a ruckus. We go to Parliament to do constructive work. If the country’s Home Minister has brought a bill, it is our duty to listen to him… We condemn such behaviour.”
