In a major anti-terrorist operation, three Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter with joint forces in Srinagar’s Harwan area on Monday, with two of them identified as being involved in the recent Pahalgam attack. This marks a major success for the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army.
Top sources informed News24 that among the three Pakistani terrorists neutralized by security forces, two were directly linked to the Pahalgam incident. The terrorists have been identified as Yasir and Suliaman, while the third individual was identified as Abu Hamzah.
The Army confirmed that the encounter took place in the upper reaches of Dachigam, Srinagar. According to officials, “Three terrorists have been neutralized in an intense firefight. Operation continues.”
An official involved in the operation said that although three terrorists have been confirmed dead, the operation is still ongoing. This successful operation highlights the efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army in tackling terrorism in the Kashmir Valley, particularly by neutralizing terrorists associated with the Pahalgam attack. A senior police official confirmed to News24 that those killed in Harwan were indeed connected to the Pahalgam incident.
Additionally, sources told News24 that a substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site, including a US-made carbine, an AK-47, 17 rifle grenades, and other materials. Search operations are still underway.
This major successful operation comes at a time when Parliament was debating Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack.
Earlier on Monday, the Army informed that contact had been established with terrorists in the general area of Lidwas in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. Taking to the micro-blogging platform X, the Army’s Chinar Corps wrote, “Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress.”
