New Delhi: Rejecting the ‘new’ standard map released by China, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that China has a “habit” of issuing such maps and bluntly told the dragon that it does not make sense to include territories of other countries in its map.
China once again claimed ownership of Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin, which China calls parts of South Tibet. S Jaishankar, in an interview with NDTV, said, “China has released maps with areas that do not belong to them. This is their old habit. Releasing their maps with only parts of India will not change anything.”
Our government is very clear that this is our territory and what do we have to do there? Making such absurd claims doesn’t make other people’s territory yours, said the External Affairs Minister.
Taking about the withdrawal of troops on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), he said, “Unresolved issues on the LAC and other areas along the India-China border” figured in “informal talks” between China’s Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, PM Modi conveyed India’s concerns to Jinping.”
In its new map released on August 28, China claimed Taiwan and large parts of the South China Sea as its parts and full claim on Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, and Brunei.
