New Delhi: This is a Murder of Democracy, our voices have been pressed in parliament and on road as well, our leaders have been disqualified and now we are not allowed to walk, What is this Democracy? said Jairam Ramesh after being stopped to walk till Town Hall from Red fort for Loktantra Bachao Mashaal Shanti March. 

In a video tweeted on the official handle of Congress, Member of parliament Jairam Ramesh, Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Adhiranjan Chowdhary and other congress leaders were seen sitting on the road after being stopped to walk toward town hall.

Congress leaders and workers were detained by police as they gathered at Red Fort for ‘Loktantra Bachao Mashaal Shanti March’ till Town Hall.

Earlier in the day, Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had informed that all the Member of Parliaments (MPs) and party workers belonging to the grand-old party will join the march.

The march was scheduled to start from Red Fort to Town Hall in old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk at 7 pm on Tuesday against the dismisal of party leader Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.

Congress is agitated by the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi after which, the party launched several protests across the nation.

Jai Bharat Satyagraha will be organized

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh informed that the party will protest across the country in the next 30 days. The movement has been named Jai Bharat Satyagraha. This protest will be held at the block, state and national levels.

Earleir in the day, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi agreed to vacate the government-alloted bunglow at 12 Taghlak Lane after his membership was cancelled.

“As an elected Member of Lok Sabha over last 4 terms, it is the mandate of the people to which I owe the happy memories of my time spent here,” said Rahul Gandhi in the letter written writes to Deputy Secretary, MS Branch, Lok Sabha Secretariat.

“Without prejudice to my rights, I will, of course, abide by the details contained in your letter,” he added.
