New Delhi: The Indian National Congress is all set to go for elections in a bid to elect their new president. The election is almost set to occur between Shashi Tharoor and Ashok Gehlot for the post.
As per the information received from sources, the fight will be between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and MP Shashi Tharoor.
Shashi Tharoor sought permission to fight
In fact, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi recently. According to sources, Sashi Tharoor had sought permission from Sonia Gandhi to contest the Congress Presidential elections, which has been approved. Sonia Gandhi said- anyone can contest elections. Shashi Tharoor said that he can strengthen internal democracy.
In such a situation, if Tharoor files nomination for the post of Congress President, then the election is certain. Meanwhile, there are reports that Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot may file nomination for the post of Congress President between 26 and 28 September.
Gandhi’s have not filed the nomination
According to information being received from party sources, no one from the Gandhi family will file nomination for the post of Congress President.
