Terrorists Don’t Ask Religion Before Shooting, Says Karnataka Minister, Questions Survivor’s Account

Karnataka Excise Minister RB Timmapur sparked controversy by stating that terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack "didn't ask religion" before shooting their victims.

“A man who is shooting, will he ask caste or religion?” said Karnataka minister RB Timmapur over Pahalgam Attack on Sunday while adding that it is not practical for terrorists to ask religion. Several witnesses of the deadly Pahalgam terror assault reported that the terrorists inquired about religion before shooting 26 people dead and injuring several others on April 22.

“A man who is shooting, will he ask caste or religion? He will just shoot and go. Think practically. He will not stand there, ask, and then shoot,” the Karnataka excise minister, Timmapur, told media on Sunday.

The minister added that a conspiracy had been plotted to stage the incident as religious. “I feel they didn’t ask about religion when they were carrying out the terror attack. In case they did, there shouldn’t be this madness of using such a statement to politicise the issue based on religion,” he said.

Timmapur further added that the wife of dead Karnataka businessman Manjunath, Pallavi, said that Muslims saved her son. “She said that Muslims saved her son. See, as a result of the tragedy, her mind might have lost a bit of control. But overall, if you look at it, how many Muslims have saved Hindus? If you ask me, why were Muslims killed by terrorists then?” as quoted by News 18.
