An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam district, in South Kashmir, as part of an ongoing anti-terror operation. Officials reported that the gunfight broke out when a joint team comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army’s 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a search operation based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

According to sources, the gunfight commenced when the security forces approached the suspected location. The hiding terrorists opened fire, prompting a swift retaliation from the joint forces team. As of the latest updates, the exchange of fire was still ongoing, and additional reinforcements have been dispatched to the site to assist in the operation.
Kashmir Police provided updates via social media platform X, stating, “Based on specific intelligence, #encounter has started in Guddar forest of #Kulgam. SOG of JK Police, Army, and CRPF on job. Further details to follow.”
During the encounter, one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) from the Army sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention. The security forces remain engaged in the operation, with efforts focused on neutralizing the threat posed by the terrorists.
