Srinagar: In the terrorist attack carried out on a vehicle of Rashtriya Rifles in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir Thursday evening, two soldiers of the Indian Army and two civilian porters were killed. Besides, one soldier and one porter were injured.
In the ambush on the vehicle, initially, one porter was killed and four soldiers of the army were seriously injured. However, two soldiers and one civilian porter succumbed to the injury while being treated in the hospital.
Deputy CM: Pakistan-Sponsored Terrorism
Confirming the incident and the casualty, former Deputy CM & BJP leader Kavinder Gupta said, “It is very unfortunate and a cowardly act. The roots of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. However, Government and security agencies have worked a lot under a ‘zero tolerance’ policy.”
Encounter In Butapathri
The Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement, “Some exchange of fire took place between forces and terrorists in Butapathri sector of District Baramulla around Nagin post. Further details will be shared after verifying facts.”
It said further that the terrorist attack on an Army vehicle which was part of a convoy in J&K’s Baramulla in which a civilian porter has been killed. The police also said that four soldiers had also been injured in the attack.
Vehicle of 18 Rashtriya Rifles Under Attack
The terrorists targeted the vehicle of the 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) as it was en route from Botapathr. The vehicle was part of a convoy in Baramulla when the terrorists launched an attack.
Ganderbal Attack
It may be recalled that a doctor and six construction workers were killed on October 20 when terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in the Ganderbal district. It was the worst one in recent months and took place days after Omar Abdullah took over as the Chief Minister of the union territory.
Those killed in the Ganderbal attack included Dr Shahnawaz from Nayidgam Kashmir’s Budgam, Gurmeet Singh from Punjab’s Gurdaspur, Mohammad Haneef, Faheem Nasir, and Kaleem from Bihar.
