At least 28 people were killed in the terror attack, which took place in Pahalgam in Anantnag district. In that shocking incident in the Baisaran area, terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists. The attack took place in broad daylight on April 22 was the day when the US Vice President was in India, and Prime Minister left for his visit to Saudi Arabia.
According to official sources, 28 people lost their lives and several were injured. The Resistance Front is believed to be behind this attack.
The last time such a big attack took place in Jammu and Kashmir was on June 9, 2024. This was the day when PM Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third time. On this day, terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu’s Reasi. In this incident, 10 people were killed and 33 were injured.
In a separate incident in October 2024, terrorists targeted a construction site in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, resulting in the deaths of a local doctor and six migrant workers. The banned group TRF also claimed responsibility for the Ganderbal attack.

Chittisinghpura Massacre (2000): In this massacre, which happened in Chittisinghpura , took life of 35 Sikhs. This horrific incident took place on March 20, 2000. This attack took place on the eve of then-US President Bill Clinton’s visit to India.
August (2000): At least 32 people, including Amarnath pilgrims, were killed in the attack that took place on Nunwan base camp.
July (2001): At least 13 Amarnath Yatris were killed in this attack, which took place in Sheshnag base camp in Anantnag.
October (2001): A suicide terrorist attack targeted the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Complex in Srinagar, resulting in the deaths of 36 people.
2002: At least 11 Amarnath Yatris were killed in a terror attack in Chandanwari base camp.
November 23, 2002: At least 19 people, including nine security force personnel, two children, and three women, were killed in the IED blast at Lower Munda in South Kashmir.
June 12, 2006: In this incident 9 labourers from Bihar and Nepal were killed in Kulgam.
July 10, 2017: At least 8 people died in the attack on Amarnath Yatra Bus in Kulgam.
Pulwama Attack (2019): The attack took place on 14th February, 2019. At least 40 CRPF personnel were killed in this horrific incident. A convoy transporting Indian security personnel on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway was targeted by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethapora in Pulwama district, in the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.
