Heavy rains are expected to continue across Telangana, which is already struggling with floods. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for the next five days, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. This follows record-breaking rainfall caused by a depression in the Bay of Bengal, with Thirumalayapalem in Khammam district receiving 52 cm of rain, the highest of the season. Other districts, including Warangal, Mahabubabad, and Suryapet, experienced rainfall exceeding 40 cm, causing severe damage in low-lying areas.

Heavy Rain Disrupts Train Services In South

The heavy rainfall on Sunday led to the cancellation and diversion of several trains by the South Central Railway. Hyderabad received substantial rain from Saturday morning to Sunday morning but narrowly avoided extreme conditions similar to the 2020 floods, which could have brought more than 30 cm of rain.

In Andhra Pradesh, heavy rain caused severe flooding in Vijayawada’s Rama Krishna Puram area, submerging houses and vehicles. Police and NDRF teams have initiated rescue and relief operations, relocating affected residents to safer places.

The IMD has predicted that heavy rainfall will continue on Sunday in 15 districts of Telangana, including Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and others, which could lead to further flooding in these areas.

Weather Forecast For UP

On September 3, rain and occasional thunderstorms are expected in many parts of western UP, with lighter rain in some areas of eastern UP. Heavy rainfall is particularly forecasted for western UP.
