Prophet Row: After former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh’s remarks on Prophet Mohammad continue to witness massive protests in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, T Raja has been arrested by Hyderabad South Zone Police on Tuesday morning. Singh is the MLA from Goshamahal.

Recently, a video of T Raja went viral on social media, in which he made controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad. After this, protests started against him. Angry mobs were seen protesting at Dabirpura, Bhawaninagar, Rainbazar and Mirchchowk police stations in Hyderabad.

An FIR was registered against Singh under sections 153A, 295 and 505 of the IPC at Dabirpura police station.

Earlier on August 19, Raja Singh and 4 others were taken into protective custody ahead of comedian Munawwar Farooqui’s show in Hyderabad. Last week, Singh had threatened to attack the comedian and burn down the venue if the Telangana government, governed by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), allowed them to perform in the city.

In a video message widely shared on social media, the BJP MLA said the comedian had poked fun at Hindu gods and they should not be allowed to perform in Hyderabad.

In December last year, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s son and state IT Minister KT Rama Rao extended an “open invitation” to comedians like Farooqui and Kunal Kamra, who are often targets of right-wing groups.
