It was on Friday that, while flying the LCA Tejas fighter jet, the aircraft began its rapid descent after a negative-G maneuver and crash-landed onto the ground, erupting into a fireball. The Wing Commander was a resident of Nagrota Bagwan in Himachal Pradesh and had completed his schooling at Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, in Hamirpur district. He is survived by his aged parents, his wife—an Indian Air Force officer—and a six-year-old daughter.

The Tejas jet went down around 2:10 p.m. local time while performing a flying display for spectators at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai World Central. A video of the crash showed the fighter jet descending at a rapid rate toward the ground before erupting into a massive fireball.
