A music teacher at a suburban Mumbai school has been apprehended by the police on charges of molesting a 13-year-old student, as reported on Wednesday. The accused, a 26-year-old individual, allegedly attempted to engage in online communication with the Class 7 student through social media, but she resisted his advances, according to an official statement. The young girl has accused the teacher of both molestation and stalking, and she confided in her parents about the ordeal, leading them to file a complaint with the Charkop police.
Following the complaint, the suspect, identified as Siddharth Singh, was arrested late Tuesday night. He has been booked under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354-D (stalking), as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. An ongoing investigation is being conducted into the case.
In a separate incident in Mumbai, another schoolteacher was apprehended by the Mumbai police for allegedly sending explicit messages to a 13-year-old female student. The incident came to light when the girl’s mother filed a complaint against the 36-year-old teacher, identified as Ajit, at the Borivali police station. The accused used the social media platform Instagram to send inappropriate messages to the young girl.
A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including molestation, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigations are underway regarding this case.
