Amid a declining rain activity after reeling under torrential downpour over the past few days under the influence of cyclone Ditwah, the state has witnessed a sharp dip in temperature.

Tamil Nadu Weather: THESE districts to receive rainfall Today

Kanniyakumari, Tenkasi, and Tirunelveli will likely see moderate showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning today. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is also expected at one or two places over the Puducherry and Karaikal areas.

Chennai weather forecast

While rainfall activity has now reduced in many parts, including Chennai, the drop in temperatures has led to chilly conditions. For Chennai and its suburbs, the sky will remain partly cloudy on Monday (December 8, 2025), with light rain expected to lash a few areas. The maximum temperature will likely hover around 30°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to drop to 24°C.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry rain forecast for next 5 days

The Weather Department has forecast light to moderate rain over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until December 13, 2025. In the last 24 hours, Tamil Nadu recorded light rainfall in a few isolated areas. IMD expects this pattern to continue until next week.
