Police stated that the SIM card involved was registered to Chinna, a local functionary of DMK, who lost his SIM card at a political meeting in 2015. A few weeks later, a team of police officers from New Delhi arrived at his home, alleging that obscene pictures had been sent from the lost SIM card to a woman residing in Delhi, leading to the filing of an FIR.
In the course of the investigation, Chinna’s advocate, who appeared at the Delhi High Court, submitted evidence of his client losing the SIM card at an event. It was found that some unknown people were using the SIM for immoral activities hence he complained to the Delhi police and Batlagundu police to trace the offender.
Following years of investigation, the Tamil Nadu police finally tracked Hari Pradeep’s location in Allinagaram, Theni. He was arrested, produced before the court in Dindigul and later handed over to the Delhi police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
