Tamil Nadu Stampede- Amid the tragic stampede that has claimed at least 36 lives during a rally of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu, a video from the same event is now going viral on social media. The footage shows an unidentified person from the massive crowd hurling a slipper at Vijay while he was addressing supporters from atop a bus on Saturday. Meanwhile, Vijay was spotted leaving from Trichy airport following the stampede in Karur.

The video has been shared on the social media platform X by “@tntalksofficial” and has since gone viral. In the clip, Vijay can be seen speaking into a microphone with large crowd gathered around the bus. As he addresses the crowd from the top of the vehicle, security guards nearby suddenly react after noticing something unusual.

The security guards noticed a slipper being hurled at Vijay from the crowd but quickly intervened, blocking it before it could hit the actor. At the time, Vijay was facing away from the direction the slipper was thrown. The person who threw the slipper managed to escape the scene without being caught by the crowd or security. While the video is going viral across social media, News24 could not independently verify the authenticity of the footage or the circumstances surrounding the incident.


Tamil Nadu Stampede

The stampede-like situation reportedly occurred during Vijay’s rally, leading to several attendees fainting amid the chaos. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently assessing the situation, and more details are awaited. Former Tamil Nadu Minister and DMK leader V. Senthil Balaji stated that 31 people have died and 58 have been admitted to the hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragic incident that occurred during a political rally in Karur. In a post on X, he wrote, “The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Wishing strength to them in this difficult time. Praying for a swift recovery to all those injured.”
