A 40-year-old woman, who is a construction worker, was allegedly raped by four men while she was walking to a secluded area to relieve herself on December 29, said police adding that
the incident took place near Puthenthal in Tamil Nadu as she was on her way to visit a relative.
According to the woman’s complaint filed, the accused—identified as Bhuvanesh, Murugan, Selvakumar, and Kutti—were intoxicated when they overpowered and sexually assaulted her.
Police said, “As victim approached us, we have taken immediate action and nabbed the suspects. Further investigation is underway.”
In a similar case, on November, a similar case occurred in Vellore district where a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by three men when she stepped outside her home to relieve herself.
Her father found her after she did not return for a long time and later came to know that she had been attacked. The police arrested the three men involved under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
