Chennai: In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old daily wage worker from Malaikottalam village killed his second wife and her alleged lover by beheading them. The deeply disturbing incident unfolded in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi district early on Thursday. The incident took a ghastly turn when the accused husband, identified as K Kolanji, reached Vellore central prison carrying their severed heads and surrendered before the police.
The victims, 40-year-old K Lakhmi and 50-year-old K Thanjarasu, were killed mercilessly by Kolanji. The double murder came to light when the accused’s neighbours discovered a man’s and a woman’s headless bodies on his apartment’s terrace and immediately alerted the police.
A team led by Kallakurichi DSP S Thangavel reached the crime spot and started inquiring. Meanwhile, a sniffer dog was pressed for vital clues. The deceased’s bodies were later sent for postmortem examination.
Kolanji is currently under police custody, and a case has been registered against him. He has admitted to committing the double murder when both refused to break their extramarital relationship. The weapon used for murder has also been recovered.
