Tamil Nadu Madurai Junction: Good News! ‘AC Waiting Halls, Skywalks & More,’ Redevelopment Work Kicks Off – Check Details

The ABSS intends to execute the Madurai Junction master plan in different phases. To ease passengers travel experience, the Indian Government is planning to provide waiting areas, toilet facilities, free Wifi and fulfill other essential requirements.

Tamil Nadu: Good News! The Madurai Junction redevelopment work under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) is underway. The revamped station would feature multi-level parking lots, new terminals, and skywalks, the Southern Railway said.

The Ministry of Railways launched the ABSS scheme in February 2023 with an aim to upgrade 1,275 stations. Gnanasekar, Deputy Chief Engineer at the Madurai Junction, said that the redeveloped junction would provide airport-like facilities featuring AC waiting halls, and multi-level parking for vehicles. Additionally, an East Terminal building is also being constructed in two segments, according to reports

“After redevelopment work, we will provide all airport-like facilities. The facilities include an AC waiting hall, a restaurant, retail shops, and commercial & specialty shops. Additionally, passengers would be provided a multi-level two-wheeler parking and multi-level car parking facilities here.” Gnanasekar said.
