Tamil Nadu: Madurai district Cybercrime Police on Friday arrested Tamil Nadu BJP secretary SG Surya in Chennai for his recent tweet against Madurai MP Su Venkatesan.
Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai reacts on the arrest of BJP State Secretary SG Surya, says “The arrest of BJP state secretary SG Surya is highly condemnable. His only mistake was to expose the nasty double standards of the communists, allies of DMK.”
“These arrests will not stop us. Our voice will continue to resound boldly. We will continue to reveal the truth”, he added.
Annamalai further said that it is unbecoming of a democratically elected leader to curb the freedom of speech, use government machinery and be irritable on criticism. These are signs of becoming an autocratic leader. Taking inspiration from autocrats, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin is turning the state into an anarchic jungle. These arrests will not deter us and we will continue to be bearers of uncomfortable truths.
Actually, this whole controversy is related to a tweet on June 7. BJP secretary Surya said a sanitation worker of Pennadam Parishad had died while working in sewage water in Madurai. Referring to this incident, Surya targeted CPI corporator Vishwanathan.
He tweeted and wrote that the deceased sweeper was forced to carry manual scavenging. knowing that it is prohibited by law. In the same tweet, Surya attacked the silence of Madurai MP Venkatesan. Said your fake politics of separatism stinks worse than that sewer, find a way to live as a human, friend!
Surya’s arrest comes after the Chennai Metropolitan Sessions Court on Friday sent state minister Senthil Balaji to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till June 23 in an alleged money laundering case.
