New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha appealed Union Defence Minister Rajtnath Singh to take accountability of violence-hit Manipur before calling out the law and order situation in Punjab.

Chadha, Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, countered union minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks on Punjab’s security, progress and Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government in the state.

“I request Defence Minister that Manipur is burning, lakhs of people are homeless, and thousands are dead so take responsibility for it first before pointing out other states,” said the AAP MP.

He added, “I think that Rajnath Singh has received the wrong information about Punjab. In Punjab under AAP- Bhagwant Mann government, the law and order situation in the state has improved. The law and order situation in Punjab is way better compared to the last few decades.”

Rajnath Singh on Saturday said, “With the current Punjab government, you know what the (law and order) situation in the state is… I am the Defence Minister and I am aware of Punjab and Punjabiyat.”

“When it comes to the security of the nation, the people of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh forget all grievances and stand together… I expect this (Punjab) government to take steps to control the law and order situation in the state but the state government isn’t doing so,” said the union minister.
