Suspected Bird Strike On IndiGo Flight From Nagpur To Kolkata, Investigation Underway

There was a suspected bird strike on IndiGo flight 6E812 from Nagpur to Kolkata, according to the senior airport director of Nagpur.

Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 confirmed that the aircraft, an Airbus A320-251N took off from Nagpur and then diverted back not long after departure. Initial reports indicate that the bird hit caused damage to the aircraft’s front section, including the nose cone. Despite the mid-air scare, all 272 passengers onboard were safe, and no injuries were reported.

IndiGo Spokesperson said, “IndiGo flight 6E 812 operating from Nagpur to Kolkata on 02 September 2025 encountered a bird strike soon after take-off. As a precautionary step, pilots decided to turn back and the flight landed safely at the Nagpur airport. Due to the requirement of necessary inspection and maintenance of the aircraft, the flight has been cancelled for the day.”
