The BJP has nominated popular Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut as a candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh in the upcoming elections. However, senior Congress leader Supriya Shrinet allegedly made inappropriate remarks about Kangana, leading to heightened political tension. There are concerns that this controversy, emerging just before the Lok Sabha elections, could have negative consequences for the Congress party. Additionally, the National Commission for Women has voiced strong disapproval of the situation.

National Commission for Women demands for action
The National Commission for Women has acknowledged the controversy and urged the Congress party to take decisive action against Supriya Shrinet and HS Ahir. Additionally, the Commission for Women has appealed to the Election Commission of India to address Supriya Shrinet’s remarks concerning Kangana Ranaut. Describing Kangana as a resilient individual, the Commission stated that only those who harbor insecurities resort to such actions.
Supriya Shrinet posted a message on her Instagram account featuring a picture of Kangana Ranaut with the caption, “What is the price going on in the mandi, someone will tell”? Amid the controversy, Supriya removed the post, claiming that someone else with access to her account had made it. Upon knowing about the situation, immediate action was taken to report the account. Nonetheless, Kangana had already captured a screenshot of the post, which she shared on X (formerly Twitter), initiating a confrontation with Supriya Shrinet.
