Nagpur: A 38-year-old man, resident of the Kalamna area of the city, ended his life while being live on Facebook after allegedly facing blackmail from his purported girlfriend and her family members, police said.
On September 10, Manish used Facebook Live to disclose that he was under threat of being falsely accused of rape by a 19-year-old woman named Kajal, who was reportedly in a relationship with him. Allegedly, Kajal and her family demanded a sum of ₹5 lakh during the Facebook Live session, warning that they would pursue legal charges if the money was not provided, the officials mentioned.
The situation took a distressing turn on September 6 when Kajal went missing from her residence, with her family asserting that she had eloped with Manish. The 38-year-old man, who was married and a father of three children, tragically ended his life by jumping into a river in Nagpur after enduring harassment from Kajal’s family.

In his final Facebook Live broadcast, the deceased vehemently denied engaging in any physical relationship with Kajal and named her, her family members, and a photo studio operator as responsible for his dire situation.
Following the emergence of the Facebook Live video, the officials initiated a search operation, leading to the recovery of the man’s body from the river. The Kalamana police in Nagpur subsequently arrested four individuals in connection with the case.
