Patna: In a brutal incident, a Dalit woman was thrashed, stripped naked and then forced to drink urine on Saturday night. The incident left the woman seriously injured as she suffered head injuries and she had to be hospitalised for treatment.
The incident occurred in Mosimpur village of Bihar’s Patna district, where a Dalit woman had taken a loan from a strongman in the area identified as Pramod Singh of Rs 1500. Pramod approached the woman asking to repay the loan, which, according to the family of the victim, she had already paid off.
However, the accused remained persistent on that and asked the victim to return the money with full interest. Otherwise, they would strip her naked and parade her in the village. Pramod Singh, his son Anshu Kumar and four others, however, found the lady on Saturday night and sexually assaulted her and left her on the road to die with all the injuries.
Patna SSP Rajiv Kumar Mishra said an FIR has been registered and the accused and other members of their family are absconding. Their house was locked and several raids were conducted to capture them.
Ashok Das, the woman’s husband, said Pramod and his associates had approached her about four days ago, saying the interest had not been paid. She went to the police, which seemed to anger Pramod even more. According to Das, on Saturday night, Pramod, his son and four others raped the woman.
The family went out on lookout on the incident that night as she did not return home and found her in a pathetic situation, wearing torn clothes and having bruises and injuries on her body.
