A student preparing for the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exams was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in his hostel room in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday night, according to police reports.
Puneet Dubey, a 21-year-old B.Sc. second-year student at Ranjit Singh College in Indore, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his hostel room. Police reported that he was wearing a saree, had on women’s makeup, and was blindfolded when discovered.
Police reported that a pool of blood was found on the floor near Puneet’s body. They are investigating his death as both a potential suicide and a possible murder. The incident was discovered three days later when Puneet’s neighbors alerted the police about a foul smell coming from his room.
Puneet’s father, Tribhuvan Dubey, a farmer leader from Udaipura, stated that his son had relocated to Indore two years ago for his studies and was a second-year Computer Science B.Sc. student. Puneet used to call home every night, with his last conversation being with his mother, Vibhuti Dubey, at 10 PM on Thursday night.

Dubey informed the police that Puneet used to stay at the coaching center from 9 AM to 9 PM.
It was further revealed that when Puneet’s family tried to contact him on Friday, his mobile phone was switched off all day. Concerned, they reached out to Puneet’s relatives and some friends in Indore. When they arrived at his room, they found the door locked from the inside and subsequently informed the police.
When the police arrived and opened the door, they found Puneet’s lifeless body inside the room. The police seized Puneet’s laptop, mobile phone, and other items, launching an investigation into his death. They are also interrogating Puneet’s hostel roommates.
After the post-mortem examination of Puneet Dubey was completed, his body was taken to Udaipura for his last rites.
Tribhuvan Dubey demanded a thorough investigation into the matter so that the truth behind his son’s death can come to light.
