In a major successful operation against drug trafficking, the Srinagar Police have successfully dismantled a major cross-border narcotics racket, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of eight kilograms of heroin valued at an astonishing 32 crore rupees. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police to combat the growing menace of drug abuse in the UT.

The breakthrough occurred during a specific checkpoint at Barthana Crossing in Qamarwari area of Srinagar, where a police team intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle (registration No. JK05D-1837) carrying two suspects. A case has been registered at Police Station Parimpora under encompassing sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to unravel the full extent of the syndicate and identify all individuals involved in this criminal enterprise.

SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Hussain Mir emphasized the police’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir. “We are actively pursuing both backward and forward linkages to dismantle this syndicate,” he stated. “Our zero-tolerance policy against narcotics remains firm, and we will ensure that all those involved in such activities face justice.”
