As spring unfurls its vibrant colors across Kashmir, the enchanting Badamwari Garden, affectionately known as Badam Vaer, is once again capturing the hearts of tourists and nature enthusiasts. Nestled at the foot of the historic Hari Parbat Fort in Srinagar, this picturesque garden is currently ablaze with the brilliant blossoms of almond trees, heralding the arrival of the valley’s much-anticipated spring season.
Between mid-March and mid-April, the almond trees in Badamwari burst into bloom, transforming the garden into a canvas of delicate pink and white flowers. The air is filled with a gentle fragrance, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the serene beauty of their surroundings. Photographers and tourists flock to this idyllic spot, eager to capture the breathtaking views and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere that the garden offers.
Badamwari’s strategic location near significant cultural landmarks, including the revered Hazrat Makhdoom Sahib shrine and Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi, adds to its allure. This combination of natural beauty and historical significance makes it a favored destination for both locals and travelers seeking a peaceful retreat amid the hustle and bustle of daily life.

In response to the garden’s increasing popularity, the Department of Floriculture has embarked on an ambitious development project aimed at enhancing its charm. Recently, thousands of lavender trees have been planted in the upper sections of the garden, promising to create a delightful sensory experience for visitors. Plans are also underway to transform Badamwari into a themed garden, further solidifying its status as a must-visit spring destination in Kashmir.
Officials are optimistic that the introduction of new flower varieties will not only beautify the landscape but also boost tourism in Srinagar. The combination of stunning visuals and captivating scents is expected to create an unforgettable experience for all who visit.
