Uttarakhand Nurse: A 28-year-old laborer from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested in Rajasthan for allegedly raping and killing a 33-year-old nurse who had gone missing from Rudrapur last month. She was working at a private hospital located in Udham Nagar district of Uttarakhand. Her body was found in her village located in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
The nurse’s sister filed a missing person complaint at the Rudrapur police station on July 31, according to Manjunath TC, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udham Singh Nagar. Her body was found in an empty plot one week later. A case has been registered in this regard against Dharmendra Kumar of Bareilly for sexually assaulting and killing the nurse. The police said that after her shift in the hospital, the nurse was going home when Kumar stopped her on the way.
He said that the case of the missing person has been received by the office on July 30, but they indistinctively came to know that the nurse reached her village in Uttar Pradesh before being attacked. On August 8, he said, they had the information that the body of a missing nurse was found in bushes, and the identity was matched.
The police have also claimed that the accused, a drug addict who was not known to the nurse, intercepted her because she was traveling alone. Though she put up a struggle, the accused overpowered her, sexually assaulted her, and then strangled her. He picked up her belongings and fled.
