On Wednesday, traffic in South Delhi came to a brief halt when a DTC electric bus became trapped in a collapsed road section in Mehrauli.
Police reported ongoing work at the site where they received approximately four to five calls about traffic congestion in the area.
In a post on X, police reported that traffic on MB Road was disrupted in the lane from Khanpur to Mehrauli due to a bus breakdown near Saket metro station. They advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly. The police later confirmed the bus had been cleared, and traffic flow had resumed.

Bhupender Kumar, the bus driver, explained that after dropping off passengers at the metro station, the road suddenly collapsed as they began moving. The incident occurred around 7 am, and there were no potholes initially on the road. The bus was traveling at a slow speed with four to five passengers on board. The route number 419 bus was en route from Kashmere Gate to Lado Sarai.

As per a statement from the Delhi Traffic Police, heavy vehicles are prohibited from traveling on Mandi Road between Gadaipur police post and MG Road in both directions. This restriction was imposed at the request of the Public Works Department for ongoing drainage system maintenance.
The statement clarified that other vehicles are permitted on the route. Buses and heavy vehicles originating from Mandi Village and nearby areas are being redirected from Mandi Road towards Bandh Road and Sant Shr Nagpal Marg to access MG Road and southern Delhi, as per the statement.
