The Mamata government has leased 350 acres of land to former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly for just one rupee to build a factory. A PIL has now been filed in the Calcutta High Court questioning how this was possible. The case will be heard by Justice Jaymalya Bagchi’s bench. The PIL raises questions about the Mamata government’s decision to allocate the land. The division bench set up for chit fund cases will hear the entire matter.
The court will soon hear the case involving Sourav Ganguly. The division bench led by Justice Jaymalya Bagchi, currently handling the chit fund case, will oversee this matter. The Mamata government had previously allocated 750 acres of land to the Prayag Group to build a film city in Chandrakona, West Medinipur district. When the company was linked to the chit fund case, the issue gained attention.
The Mamata Banerjee government will now face court due to a PIL, where they must answer questions like why the land was given to Sourav Ganguly and the details of the agreement. The land was leased to Ganguly for 999 years for just Rs 1. Sheikh Masood filed this PIL.
Now, we have to wait to see what the court decides in this matter. Sourav Ganguly’s lawyer questioned how the government could give land away like this and called for an investigation. The court has not commented on the case yet, and more information might emerge after the hearing. Sourav Ganguly has also not commented on this issue.
