Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari died of a heart attack on Thursday in Banda, UP. He was rushed to the nearby Rani Durgavati Medical College after his health deteriorated and he fainted. A panel of nine doctors was up for the treatment of 5-time MLA when he died. While his death raises a dozen questions, a probe investigating the same is underway. Meanwhile, his elder son Abbas Ansari who is behind bars in Kasganj jail has been denied parole by the Allahabad High Court.
Behind the scenes…
The family of Mukhtar Ansari had filed a plea in the high court seeking parole for his elder son Abbas Ansari. The plea was to be heard by the bench of justice Sanjay Kumar Singh which has been assigned MP/MLA cases but this bench wasn’t present today. Therefore Abbas’ case was transferred to Samit Gopal’s bench.
However, this bench denied hearing cases coming from other benches due to which hearing on Abbas Ansari’s plea couldn’t happen.
What next?
Now, the family has filed a plea in the Supreme Court. Legal experts for Ansaris are trying their best to reach the CJI so that a bench can be assigned for the hearing with immediate effect.
