New Delhi: Photography and videography are banned inside the premises of the Kedarnath Temple in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Devotees now can’t take photos and videos inside the temple after a recent video of a girl went viral on social media, where she was seen proposing to her boyfriend.

Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has put up boards at various places in the temple premises which read, “Do not enter the temple premises with mobile phones; any kind of photography and videography is completely prohibited inside the temple; and you are under the surveillance of CCTV cameras.”

The temple authorities have also requested individuals to dress modestly and refrain from erecting tents or camps within the temple premises. Signboards in both Hindi and English languages convey this message, along with a warning of potential legal consequences for non-compliance.

Ajendra Ajay, the president of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, emphasized that religious spaces adhere to specific belief systems, which deserve respect from the devotees. While no complaints have been received from Badrinath Dham thus far, similar signboards will be erected there as well.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
