Sant Siyaram Baba was popularly known for his devotion to Lord Ram and his 12-year-long meditation in silence, which was broken by his first word, “Siyaram.” Since then he was named as Siyram Baba. A revered spiritual figure and a symbol of devotion to Lord Ram, passed away on Wednesday morning at 6.10 am on the auspicious occasion of Mokshada Ekadashi. He was 95 years old. His death coincides with the celebration of Gita Jayanti, marking an end to a remarkable life dedicated to spiritual practices and devotion.
Illness:
Baba had been ill for the past ten days, and despite receiving treatment from doctors in Indore, his health deteriorated. His final rites will be performed at 4 pm today near his ashram located on the banks of the Narmada River.
Early life And Meditation:
Originally from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Baba had settled at the ashram several years ago, where he became a deeply revered figure in the region. Known for his unwavering devotion to Lord Ram and regular recitations of the Ramayana, he was often seen chanting for up to 21 hours a day. His followers recall that even at the age of 95, Baba never needed spectacles and wore only a cloth, regardless of the weather conditions. His simple lifestyle and intense spiritual practice made him an inspiration for many.
Health Issues:
Baba’s health had been declining due to pneumonia, and he had been admitted to a private hospital in Sanawad. Following his consent, doctors from the district hospital and nearby Kasrawad continued treating him at the ashram. Despite the illness, his faith and spiritual commitment remained steadfast until the end.
His passing has left the local community and devotees in mourning. A large crowd has gathered at the ashram to pay their respects to the beloved spiritual leader. The presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is expected during the final rites later today.
Spiritual Journey:
Sant siyaram baba’s journey to spiritual awakening began at the age of 17, when he decided to follow the path of spirituality. After years of study and pilgrimage, he arrived in Bhattayan in 1962, where he meditated under a tree, eventually achieving a deep state of spiritual enlightenment. It was during this period that he first uttered the name ‘Siyarama,’ which led to his being known as Santsiyarambaba.
