Siwan Bridge collapses

Another bridge incident has occurred in Bihar. Within five days, a second bridge collapsed, this time over the Gandak canal between Patedha and Garouli villages in Maharajganj subdivision of Siwan. On Saturday morning, one pier of the bridge suddenly sank, causing the entire structure to collapse into the canal. Following the incident, transportation between the two villages has been disrupted, and there was widespread panic in the area. Locals are questioning the construction quality of the bridge.

As of now, there is no information about any casualties in the incident. This bridge connected Patedhi Bazar in Maharajganj block and Ramgarh Panchayat in Daronda block. The collapse of the bridge has disrupted traffic flow, affecting thousands of commuters. Local residents reported that the bridge collapsed this morning.

People have said that this bridge was constructed about 40-45 years ago with contributions from local residents who raised funds for its construction. Later, some government assistance was also received. People are now demanding that the government quickly repair the bridge so that the disrupted traffic flow can resume smoothly.

Preparations were underway to construct and start the approach road to the bridge when this incident occurred. This bridge was extremely important because the condition of the old bridge on this road was already very poor, and it had been disconnected from the road. In response to this incident, the Rural Development Minister, Ashok Choudhary, immediately suspended the assistant engineer and junior engineer involved in the matter.
