SIR Form Filing Last Date: Will non-submission lead to voter list removal? Check rules and options here

A Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list is being carried out across 12 states and Union Territories, including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Voters must submit the SIR form by December 11, after which the draft voter list will be released on December 16.

A major voter list clean-up drive is underway across 12 states and Union Territories, including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Voters have been asked to complete the SIR form by December 11, after which the draft voter list will be released on December 16. Anyone who does not submit the form by the deadline risks having their name left out of the draft roll. Here’s a clear look at the Election Commission’s key instructions.

There are still a few days left to complete the SIR form. The simplest way is to get in touch with your Booth Level Officer (BLO). Fill out the form and hand it over to them. If you don’t know who your BLO is, you can find their contact number on the Election Commission’s voter services portal, voters.eci.gov.in. Once you get the number, call the BLO directly, or use the “Book a Call with BLO” feature on the same portal, your BLO will contact you. If meeting the BLO in person is difficult due to timing issues or other reasons, you also have the option to submit the SIR form online through the same voter services portal.

What if you are unable to submit the form before the deadline?

Many people are still worried because they haven’t completed the SIR form yet. The big question for them is whether their names will be removed from the voter list if they miss the December 11 deadline. Some are also wondering if they can add their names again or whether they will have to pay any penalty.

If you haven’t filled out the form yet, try to get it done before December 11. But if it still doesn’t happen, don’t panic. You will get another chance to add your name to the voter list even after the deadline.

What will happen after December 11?

Once form submission closes on December 11, the draft voter list will be published on December 16. After that, you should check whether your name appears in the draft roll. If it’s missing, you can apply to have it added back anytime up to January 15, 2026.

The period for claims and objections will run from December 16, 2025, to January 15, 2026. During this time, applications will be accepted, verified and decided upon. The ERO will finish all hearings and verification work by February 7, 2026.

Do you have to pay a fine?

If your name is missing from the draft roll, you won’t be fined or penalised in any way. At most, you may receive a verification notice asking you to show one of the approved identity documents to election officials.

Names to be removed from voter list?

If you don’t respond during the claims and objections period, meaning you skip the hearing or fail to provide the required ID proof, your name could be removed from the final voter list. The final electoral roll will be published on February 14, 2026.
