New Delhi: A Delhi court Tuesday framed murder and disappearance charges against Aftab Poonawala who allegedly strangled his live-in partner Shraddha Walker to death and cut her dead body in 35 pieces.
Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar was hearing the plea who noted that the Aftab’s offence is punishable under IPC Section 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence).
The horrific murder of Mumbai-resident Shraddha Walker had sent the shockwaves throughout the country. Accused Aftab Amin Poonawala killed Shraddha Walker on May 18, last year and chopped off his body parts to keep them in fridge in Delhi’s Chhattarpur.
Later, he threw off the body parts each day to Mehrauli forest in the national capital. After being exposed, the accused also confessed his crime to the police.
Shraddha Filed An FIR in 2020
Shraddha Walker who was allegedly killed by her live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawalla had filed a complaint in Mumbai’s Vasai Police Station alleging that he threatened her to kill and cut into pieces, throwing them away.
“Today he tried to kill me by suffocating me and he scares me and blackmails me that he will kill me, cut me up in pieces and throw me away. It’s been six months he has been hitting me but I did not have the guts to go to the police because he would threaten to kill me,” read the letter.
Police suspects links with an abandoned suitcase found in Haryana
The Police have found a suitcase at a forest area in Haryana’s Faridabad stuffed with the body parts of a human being, which are suspected to be of the 27-year-old woman from Mumbai, Shraddha Walkar.
Faridabad Police have contacted the Delhi Police following the recovery of the suitcase with body parts in the Surajkund forest area.
