With the rise of digital era, there is also rise in digital crime. Scammers are using technology to fool people. One such incident took place with YouTuber Ankush Bahuguna.
YouTuber Ankush Bahuguna posted a post on his Instagram handle on how he became the prey of the scammer. He narrated the entire incident in his video shared on the Instagram page. He mentioned that “I was held hostage in a Cyber arrest.” According to him, they took his so many details like bank details and other things. He said in the clip that he can’t believe that this happened to him. He was isolated for 40 hours because of this scam.
He wrote in the caption of that post that, “Sharing this so others don’t have to go through what i went through. I feel so lucky to have friends with such strong instincts who noticed a change in my behaviour even when they were getting “I’m okay” texts from me. They literally saved my life. Imagine if they hadn’t come looking for me or looked for clues! I’d probably still be in that cyber arrest & would’ve lost all my money. Pls beware of this scam. I know a lot of you are aware of it but I don’t think a lot of people understand the extent to which these scammers can go to control you.”

He mentioned in the video that he was held hostage by some scammers. He further mentioned that he lost money and mental health.
He narrated the entire incident in this 8-minute video shared by him. He stated that he got a call from a weird number after he returned from the Gym. He picked that call.
Ankush mentioned in the clip that the call was about the delivery being cancelled. According to the claim made him he didn’t send any courier and pressed zero by following the instructions. Following this the caller framed him into the fake narrative.
After a few minutes the call got transferred into a WhatsApp video call and in that call was some police officer. In the video, officers tells him that there are multiple cases on Ankush. And tells him that he is under self-custody. Following the instruction Ankush switched off all his phones and shared the information with them.
